Taxon description
Gatunek wykazywany z południowej Francji, środkowej części Europy, Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i południowej Szwecji. W Polsce należy do rzadkości — notowano go tylko z dwu krain na podstawie znalezisk sprzed przeszło 50, a nawet 100 lat. Wg. piśmiennictwa, w odróżnieniu od innych gatunków z rodzaju Bagous Germar, chrząszcz ten zasiedla głównie suche stanowiska, rzadziej miejsca średnio wilgotne. W Szwecji był znajdowany na suchym pobrzeżu lasu pod porostami na skałach; w Danii masowo na skalnicy ziarenkowatej — Saxifraga granulata L. Według L. Dieckmanna (1983) B. Petryszak wysiał jednego samca z detrytusu obok skalnicy; chrząszcz w hodowli wyżerał liście tej rośliny, stąd można sądzić, że skalnice są jego roślinami żywicielskimi.
