Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1993:
Górski gatunek, rozsiedlony w środkowej części Europy, notowany ponadto z Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i nielicznych stanowisk w południowej Szwecji i Finlandii; zawleczony do Kanady. W Polsce wykazany z nielicznych stanowisk rozmieszczonych głównie na obszarach górzystych. Zamieszkuje zimne siedliska, zarówno na otwartych, jak i zadrzewionych terenach. Spotykany od marca do listopada na pobrzeżach lasu, polanach śródleśnych, łąkach, torfowiskach, w zaroślach i ogrodach. Aktywny nocą. Imagines żerują na liściach, wygryzając na ich brzegach karby. Jako rośliny żywicielskie są podawane: szczyr trwały — Mercurialis perennis L., jasnota plamista — Lamium maculatum L. ostrożeń warzywny — Cirsium oleraceum (L.) Scop., konwalia majowa — Convallaria maialis L., fiołki — Viola L., pierwiosnki — Primula L. i naparstnice — Digitalis L. Larwy żerują na korzeniach, także w bulwach mieczyków — Gladiolus L.
