Taxon description
Gatunek palearktyczny, wykazywany z prawie całej Europy od północnej Portugalii i środkowej części Włoch aż do najdalszej północy, poza tym podawany z północnej Afryki, Azji Mniejszej, Kaukazu i zachodniej Syberii. Występuje w dwu formach, w starszym piśmiennictwie zazwyczaj nie wyróżnianych. Podgatunek nominatywny zasiedla pobrzeża wód na terenach niżowych i pogórzach do wysokości około 500 m n.p.m. Drugi podgatunek, górski Bembidion (Testedium) bipunctatum nivale Heer obejmuje swym zasięgiem Pireneje, Alpy, Sudety i Karpaty, żyje nad wysokogórskimi wodami i w pobliżu płatów firnu, niekiedy bywa znoszony w niższe partie przez wody powodziowe.
