Taxon description
Gatunek rozpowszechniony w północnej części Palearktyki, docierający na wschód przez Syberię do Mongolii i Władywostoku; w Europie rozmieszczony od Anglii, Fennoskandii i Karelskiej SRR aż do Pirenejów, północnych Włoch, Krainy, Siedmiogrodu i Podola. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze z wyjątkiem wyższych partii górskich, nie jest jednak jeszcze znany z wielu krain. Larwy żerują w grzybach należących do rzędu wnętrzniaków, między innymi znaleziono je w kurzawce ołowianej — Bovista plumbea Pers. i czasznicy oczkowatej — Calvatia utriformis (Bull. ex Pers.) O. Jaap. Larwy po przezimowaniu w owocnikach grzybów przepoczwarczają się na wiosnę, a postacie dojrzałe ukazują się w maju i są poławiane do lipca.
