Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Gatunek motyla dość pospolity, czas lotu trwa od V do VII. Gąsienice żerują jesienią na wielu gatunkach roślin zielnych (mniszek, babka, rdest, szczaw, pokrzywa, bylica i inne). Zimą gąsienice przebywają w cienkich, mocnych oprzędach, w których wiosną przepoczwarczają się. Gąsienice tego i następnego gatunku (C. selini), trzymane na dłoni, zjadają naskórek ręki, nie wykazują jednak w hodowli skłonności kanibalistycznych.
