Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w środkowej Europie i na Półwyspie Bałkańskim, notowany ponadto z Danii i Wysp Brytyjskich. W Polsce jest chrząszczem rzadko spotykanym zarówno na terenach nizinnych, jak i górskich. Często mylony z Choleva (Cholevopsis) paskoviensis Reitt., dlatego też wiele, dawnych danych ze Śląska oraz z Wyżyny Małopolskiej wymaga potwierdzenia nowymi doniesieniami. Zamieszkuje w chodnikach drobnych gryzoni i kretów, znajdowany niekiedy w jaskiniach.
