Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący południową i środkową część Europy, Azję Mniejszą i Środkową po Kaszmir i środkowe Chiny. W Polsce, aczkolwiek nie znany jeszcze z wielu krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze; z dotychczasowych danych wynika, że częściej jest spotykany na południu kraju, zwłaszcza w rejonach podgórskich. Wzmianka F. Osterloffa (1884) o znalezieniu tego chrząszcza w Rudzie odnosi się do obszaru obecnie obejmowanego przez osiedle Marymont. Zasiedla tereny nizinne i podgórza. Spotykany od wiosny do jesieni, głównie nad wodami, rowami i w miejscach wilgotnych — na miętach, zwłaszcza mięcie nadwodnej — Mentha aquatica L. i mięcie długolistnej — M. longifolia (L.) Huds.
