Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1990b:

Gatunek europejski, rozmieszczony głównie w środkowej części kontynentu, na południe docierający do Pirenejów, Alp i Półwyspu Bałkańskiego, notowany też z Danii i jednej południowej prowincji Szwecji. Rozsiedlenie tego chrząszcza poznane niedostatecznie, gdyż często mylono go z pokrewnymi gatunkami. W Polsce notowany z nielicznych stanowisk w różnych częściach kraju, jedynie z Bieszczadów wykazany ze znacznej liczby miejscowości. Stanowiska z nizin wymagają jeszcze sprawdzenia, gdyż gatunek ten często był mylony z Ch. hyperici (Forst.) i Ch. geminata (Payk.). Zasiedla głównie tereny górzyste. Występuje na zboczach kamienistych, pobrzeżach lasów i w widnych zaroślach. Żeruje na dziurawcu zwyczajnym — Hypericum perforatum L. Najczęściej poławiany w lipcu i sierpniu.
