Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w środkowej części Europy, na północ sięgający po Szwecję, Karelię i kraje nadbałtyckie, a na wschód przez Syberię docierający do Mongolii, północnych Chin, Półwyspu Koreańskiego i Japonii. W Polsce dość rzadko spotykany, ale niekiedy poławiany w dużej liczbie osobników; występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, nie jest jednak jeszcze znany z niektórych krain. Postacie dojrzałe łowiono od wiosny do jesieni na różnych gatunkach wierzb. Larwy żerują na liściach wierzb, przepoczwarczają się na spodniej stronie liści lub na gałązkach. Młode chrząszcze pojawiają się w lipcu, po obfitym żerowaniu na okres zimowy wywędrowują do ściółki lub pod odstającą korę.
