Taxon description
Szeroko rozmieszczony od północnej części Indii i Syrii po Półwysep Iberyjski; w Europie dochodzi od strony zachodniej na północ do Alzacji, a od strony wschodniej do Czechosłowacji i południowej Polski. U nas notowany tylko z czterech krain na podstawie znalezisk z ubiegłego stulecia, a ogólnikowe wzmianki o występowaniu w Galicji opierają się na danych odnoszących się do terenu leżącego na wschód od naszej granicy. Zasiedlenie Polski przez omawiany gatunek wymaga dalszych badań, tym bardziej, że według A. Horiona (1955) w zbiorach brak okazów dowodowych z miejscowości podanych przez K. Letznera. Larwy żerują w korzeniach różnych gatunków malin — Rubus L. i róż — Rosa L. Postacie dojrzałe ukazują się w lecie; obżerają brzegi młodych liści. Chrząszcze są mało ruchliwe, przy dotknięciu przez długi czas wydają się być martwe. W południowej części Francji gatunek ten notowany jest jako szkodnik w uprawach róż.
