Taxon description
Gatunek rozpowszechniony w niemal całej Europie, w Fennoskandii docierający do koła podbiegunowego, notowany także z Syberii. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie w całym kraju prócz wyższych partii górskich. Zasiedla drzewa liściaste, zwłaszcza wiązy opanowane przez holenderską chorobę wiązów, spowodowaną przez groźnego pasożyta grzybowego Ceratocystis ulmi (Schw.) Buisman, którego zarodniki są przenoszone przez korniki (najczęściej z rodzaju Scolytus Geoffr.). Cykl rozwojowy C. (P.) bicolor (Oliv.) trwa dwa lata. Larwy żerują jako drapieżcy w chodnikach ogłodka wielorzędowego — Scolytus multistriatus Marsh, i ogładka wiązowca — S. scolytus (Fabr.). Poza tym larwy spotykano także w żerowiskach ogłodka brzozowca — S. ratzeburgi Jans. oraz rozwiertka większego — Xyleborus monographus (Fabr.).
