Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący południową i środkową część Europy, notowany też z Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii oraz ze Skanii w Szwecji; na wschód docierający do Kaukazu, Kazachstanu i Mongolii. W Polsce występuje w całym kraju (z wyjątkiem wyższych partii górskich), nie jest jednak notowany jeszcze z niektórych krain. Zasiedla wilgotne lasy, parki, zadrzewienia na pobrzeżach wód i w dolinach rzecznych. Rozwój larwalny odbywa w wilgotnym, butwiejącym drewnie pni i pniaków, głównie starych drzew topoli i wierzb, rzadziej innych drzew liściastych. Postacie dojrzałe spotykano w ciągu całego roku, zwłaszcza w maju-lipcu, lokalnie w większej liczbie osobników w miejscu wylęgu, także pod odstającą korą.
