Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986a:
Gatunek południowo-palearktyczny, w Europie rozmieszczony od krajów śródziemnomorskich aż do Anglii i południowych prowincji Fennoskandii oraz Leningradu. W Polsce, chociaż nie znany jeszcze z wielu krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich. Występuje głównie w budynkach — na psujących się produktach i materiałach; spotykany w piwnicach, stodołach, szopach — na butwiejących. szczątkach, roślinnych, w sianie, słomie i plewach, w pryzmach kompostowych oraz wśród resztek pokarmu i ekskrementów w gołębnikach.
