Taxon description
Gatunek znany głównie z środkowej części Europy, wykazywany również z Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii, południowych części Szwecji i Finlandii oraz z Karelii. W Polsce chrząszcz rzadko i sporadycznie spotykany, notowany zarówno z terenów nizinnych, jak i górzystych, przy tym większość danych o rozmieszczeniu opiera się na znaleziskach sprzed przeszło stu lat i dlatego wymagają one potwierdzenia nowymi materiałami. Występuje na nasłonecznionych, gliniastych i piaszczystych pobrzeżach wód na miejscach pokrytych glonami, niekiedy również zdała od wód, na przykład w dołach po wybranym piasku i glinie.
