Taxon description

Heintze 1990:

Dość pospolity ten motyl lata w V i VI oraz w drugim pokoleniu w VII i VIII. Gąsienice różnobarwne, od zielonych, różowych do prawie czerwonych, żerują na brzozach, dębach i olszynach w VI i VII oraz w drugim pokoleniu w VIII i IX. Zimują poczwarki przytwierdzone przędzą do gałęzi, czasem między luźno zespolonymi liśćmi. Od poprzedniego gatunku (Cosymbia punctaria) różnią się szczególnie poczwarki, które wykazują odmienną barwę i rysunek ciała. Gąsienice natomiast w przypadku podobnego ubarwienia wykazują niewielką różnicę w rysunku.
