Taxon description
Gatunek obejmujący zasięgiem tereny nizinne i górzyste głównie w południowej i środkowej części Europy (północna granica rozsiedlenia przebiega przez południową Anglię, środkową część Fennoskandii i Karelię), notowany również z Algierii i Kaukazu. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze z wyjątkiem wyższych gór, nie jest jednak jeszcze znany z niektórych krain. Jest najczęściej spotykanym gatunkiem omawianego rodzaju. Rozwój odbywa w opanowanym przez białą zgniliznę drewnie cienkich i grubszych gałęzi oraz pni różnych krzewów i drzew liściastych. Postacie dojrzałe ukazują się w maju i są poławiane do sierpnia na różnych roślinach.
