Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1990b:

Gatunek rozsiedlony w północnej i środkowej części Europy, dociera na południe do Niziny Węgierskiej i Siedmiogrodu. W Polsce, aczkolwiek nie znany jeszcze z wielu krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich. Chrząszcz poławiany bardzo rzadko z powodu trudnego dostępu do miejsc jego występowania oraz krótkiego okresu pojawu w maju i czerwcu. Żeruje przeważnie z dala od brzegu na zewnętrznych, pływających liściach manny mielec — Glyceria aquatica (L.) Wahlb. i manny jadalnej — G. fluitans (L.) R. Br. Jako rośliny żywicielskie podawano też ponikło błotne — Heleocharis palustris (L.) R. et Sch., żabiściek pływający — Hydrocharis morsus-ranae L. i trzcinę pospolitą — Phragmites communis Trin.
