Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w środkowej części Europy, docierający na południe do środkowych Włoch i Bułgarii, a na wschód sięgający po Syberię, Mongolię i Chiny. Występuje prawdopodobnie w całej Polsce, ale nie jest jeszcze znany z niektórych krain. Bionomia tego chrząszcza jest poznana fragmentarycznie. Postacie dojrzałe poławiano na topoli czarnej — Populus nigra L., topoli osice — P. tremula L., wierzbie iwie — Salix caprea L. i wierzbie szarej — S. cinerea L. Młode imagines obserwowano od połowy maja do końca czerwca. L. Dieckmann (1986) wyhodował postacie dojrzałe z larw znalezionych w leżących na ziemi męskich pączkach kwiatowych topoli czarnej — Populus nigra L.
