Taxon description
Rzadko spotykany gatunek europejski, znany dotychczas z południowo-wschodniej Francji, północnych Włoch, Szwajcarii, Niemiec, Polski, Czech, Słowacji, Austrii, Węgier, Rumunii i Bułgarii. W Polsce chrząszcz rzadko spotykany, notowany głównie z południowej części kraju, przeważnie z pojedynczych stanowisk. Bionomia tego ryjkowca jest poznana wyjątkowo słabo. Według S. Smreczyńskiego (1972) żyje głównie na topoli białej — Populus alba L., rzadziej na topoli czarnej — P. nigra L., we Francji na wierzbie szarej — Salix cinerea L.
