Taxon description
Szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w całej Europie, wykazany również z Algierii oraz z Syberii, gdzie najdalej na wschód wysuniętym stanowiskiem jest Czita. W Polsce, choć nie jest jeszcze znany z wielu krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich. Zasiedla stare pnie i pieńki oraz leżące na ziemi grube gałęzie, przeważnie drzew liściastych, rzadziej iglastych, na których rozwijają się roztoczowe grzyby należące do żagwiowatych i śluzowców; spotykano go również w przegrzybiałej próchnicy. W Szwajcarii znaleziony na śluzowcu Fuligo septica Gmel.
