Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony głównie w północnej i środkowej Europie, na południe docierający do południowej Francji i północnych Włoch, w Szwecji sięgający za koło polarne. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie w całym kraju, chociaż nie znany jest jeszcze z wielu krain. Omawiany gatunek mylony z Euplectus kirbii Denny przez K. Letznera, dlatego część danych ze Śląska Dolnego może dotyczyć bądź jednego, bądź drugiego gatunku. Znajdowany w murszejącym drewnie i pod korą starych pni i pieńków, głównie drzew liściastych, pod opadłymi liśćmi, często w sąsiedztwie gniazd mrówek.
