Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w północnej i środkowej Europie, znany też ze środkowej części Włoch. W Polsce dość pospolity, ale stosunkowo rzadko wykazywany. Z Niziny Sandomierskiej notowany przez F. Fejfera (1924) pod nazwą Hydraena (Hydraena) morio Kiesenwetter. Spotykany na nizinach, zwłaszcza w wodach stojących, ale na górzystych obszarach również w wodach płynących.
