Taxon description
Gatunek rozsiedlony w południowej i środkowej części Europy, sięgający na północ po Wyspy Brytyjskie, Danię i środkową Fennoskandię; notowany nadto z Algierii, Kaukazu i zachodniego Kazachstanu. W Polsce występuje od Bałtyku aż po Tatry, przy czym większość jego stanowisk jest skoncentrowana na wyżynach i obszarach górzystych. Zasiedla łąki, pastwiska, miedze, przydroża, rowy, pobrzeża wód, skały i upłazy. Żeruje na różnych roślinach zielnych, jak komonica błotna — Lotus uliginosus Schk., komonica zwyczajna — L. corniculatus L., ostrołódka polna — Oxytropis campestris (L.) Dc; dane o występowaniu na babce lancetowatej — Plantago lanceolata L., babce zwyczajnej — P. maior L. i babce średniej — P. media L. wymagają potwierdzenia. Przed przepoczwarzeniem larwa buduje zamknięty żółtobiały kokon.
