Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w Europie Południowej i Zachodniej oraz w południowej części środkowej Europy, notowany również z zachodniej części Afryki Północnej. W Polsce jest to chrząszcz mało znany i bardzo rzadko znajdowany, wykazywany dotychczas tylko z dwóch krain. Wzmianki ogólnikowe o występowaniu w Galicji, Karpatach i na Śląsku opierały się na danych odnoszących się do stanowisk leżących poza naszymi granicami. Postacie dojrzałe ukazują się w czerwcu i przeżywają do sierpnia. W czasie słonecznej pogody żerują na kwiatach świerząbków — Chaerophyllum L. dzikich bzów — Sambucus L. i dzięgiela leśnego — Angelica silvestris L. Samica składa jaja w martwe fragmenty starych, jeszcze żyjących drzew, w drewnie powalonych pni i leżących na ziemi kłód oraz pieńków, a także w drewno ułożone w sągi. Rozwój larwalny trwa trzy-cztery lata, podobnie jak u L. quadrifasciata L. Jako materiał żywicielski larw piśmiennictwo podaje rozkładające się drewno drzew liściastych, jak olcha, wierzba, brzoza, topola, buk, wiąz, śliwa i wiśnia.
