Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w Europie od Wysp Brytyjskich i południowych obszarów Fennoskandii po kraje śródziemnomorskie (z wyjątkiem Hiszpanii); notowany poza tym z Syberii. W Polsce występuje na całym niżu północnym, ale nie jest jeszcze znany z Podlasia; na wyżynach i podgórzach jest spotykany dość rzadko. Zasiedla głównie lasy łęgowe, wilgotne pobrzeża lasu, parki, aleje i żywopłoty. Żyje na wiązie pospolitym — Ulmus campestris L. em. Huds. Pojaw postaci dojrzałych zaczyna się w kwietniu i trwa do lipca; chrząszcze żerują na liściach. W kwietniu samice składają jaja na gałęziach i pniach. Larwy drążą krótkie, esowate chodniki pod korą i żerują w bielu do jesieni. Zimują w miejscu żerowania, a przepoczwarczają się w drugiej połowie marca.
