Taxon description
Gatunek rozsiedlony w prawie całej Europie, w Fennoskandii sięgający daleko poza koło podbiegunowe; wykazywany ponadto z Syberii i Kaukazu. W Polsce, aczkolwiek nie jest znany jeszcze z wielu krain, występuje prawdopodobnie w całym kraju prócz wyższych partii górskich. Występuje na brzozie brodawkowatej — Betula verrucosa Ehrh. Postacie dojrzałe pojawiają się na drzewach w maju i czerwcu. Żerują na liściach. Samice składają jaja na górnych, suchych lub obumierających gałęziach o średnicy 2-10 cm. Larwy żerują pod korą, drążąc wężykowate chodniki długości 5-6 cm.
