Gatunek południowo-palearktyczny, rozmieszczony w środkowej Europie, krajach śródziemnomorskich, Azji Mniejszej i południowej Syberii, notowany również z Ameryki Północnej i Australii, lecz dane te wymagają potwierdzenia. W Polsce wykazany tylko z południowej części kraju. Zasiedla pobrzeża potoków oraz rzek górskich i podgórskich, przeważnie znajdowany wśród otoczaków, pod kamieniami i napływkami.
