Taxon description
Gatunek pontomedyterraneński, na wschód sięgający po Turkiestan; w Europie na północ docierający do Francji i południowych obszarów środkowej Europy; izolowanym, najbardziej na północ wysuniętym stanowiskiem jest Bielinek nad Odrą. W środkowej Europie ten ciepłolubny gatunek występuje lokalnie, wszędzie rzadko, najczęściej pojedynczo znajdowany. W Polsce stosunkowo niedawno wykazany z dwu stanowisk. Występuje na kwiatostanach różnych gatunków roślin złożonych (Compositae), zwłaszcza na ostach — Carduus L. Jako roślinę żywicielską we Francji podawano oset zwisły — Carduus nutans L.
