Taxon description
Szeroko rozprzestrzeniony gatunek w całej Europie, notowany również z Kaukazu, Ameryki Północnej i Kalifornii. W Polsce jeden z najpospolitszych kusaków. Występuje zarówno na terenach nizinnych jak i górskich, sięgając ponad górną granicę lasu. Znajdowany w ciągu całego roku pod wszelkiego rodzaju rozkładającymi się szczątkami roślinnymi i zwierzęcymi.
