Taxon description
Gatunek uważany za kosmopolityczny, ale prawdopodobnie pochodzący z południowej Azji. W Europie występuje od Hiszpanii do Półwyspu Bałkańskiego, notowany również z nielicznych stanowisk w południowej części Europy Środkowej. W Polsce znany tylko z jednego stanowiska w Cieszynie, gdzie znajdowany licznie w stosach kompostowych w 1921 r. Według K. Cichego (1933) omawiany gatunek został zawleczony do Cieszyna z Abbazji w 1913/14 r. w licznych przesyłkach pomarańczy opakowanych w słomę, która następnie była wyrzucona na stosy kompostowe w parku, gdzie chrząszcz zaaklimatyzował się. W Cieszynie spotykany był również w kupkach nawozu w ogrodzie (Wanka 1927). Czy obecnie egzystuje jeszcze na wymienionym stanowisku wymaga to potwierdzenia nowszymi badaniami.
