Taxon description
Gatunek południowo-palearktyczny, szeroko rozprzestrzeniony od Władywostoku po Hiszpanię, na północ dochodzący w Europie do południowych części Szkocji, Fennoskandii oraz Karelii. W Polsce występuje od Bałtyku aż po Tatry, nie wykazywany jednak jeszcze z niektórych krain. Postacie dojrzałe, jak i larwy odżywiają się przetrwalnikami grzybów pasożytniczych atakujących nasiona zbóż w kłosach. Chrząszcze poławiane są w lecie i jesienią na trawach, roślinach zielnych i krzewach, a w zimie często pod obluźnioną korą drzew.
