Dość rzadko spotykany motyl znany jest z różnych okolic kraju. Lata od końca IV do połowy VII. Gąsienice żywią się liśćmi malin i jeżyn, a także wierzby, leszczyny, olchy, dębu i brzozy. Żerują od VI do IX i spotkać je można na brzegach lasów i przy drogach leśnych, w zaroślach, rowach przydrożnych i na porośniętych zboczach ukryte pod liśćmi roślin żywicielskich. Zimują poczwarki w oprzędach płytko w ziemi.
