Taxon description
Obszar rozsiedlenia gatunku obejmuje południową część Europy oraz południowe tereny Europy środkowej; notowany jest ponadto z Azji Mniejszej, Kaukazu, Syrii i Iranu. W Polsce dotychczas z całą pewnością jeszcze nie stwierdzony, a najbliżej położone stanowiska leżą na Podolu, Słowacji i południowych Morawach. Notowany u nas przed przeszło 50 laty z dwu krain, ale dane te nie zostały później potwierdzone (Stebnicka 1978). Występuje w lasach liściastych. Larwy żerują w murszejącym drewnie, głównie dębów, oraz w mrowiskach Formica rufa L. i Camponotus herculeanus (L.). Postacie dorosłe poławiano od czerwca do sierpnia, przeważnie rzadko i sporadycznie, gdyż zwykle latają wysoko w koronach drzew.
