Rzadko spotykany gatunek górski, wykazywany głównie ze wschodniego, rzadziej z północnego łuku Karpat oraz Sudetów. Dokładne rozmieszczenie, wobec mylenia go z pokrewnym Pterostichus (Steropus) cordatus Letzn., nie jest znane. O występowaniu na Babiej Górze w Beskidzie Zachodnim wątpi J. Pawłowski (1967), a na Śląsku E. Reitter (1908). Natomiast K. Kult (1941) uważa, że omawiany gatunek zasiedla Tatry i Beskidy. Pomimo licznych dawnych wzmianek o występowaniu na naszym obszarze, obecnie nie mamy konkretnych danych. Zasiedlenie naszych gór wymaga potwierdzenia nowymi materiałami. Warunki ekologiczne nie znane.
