Taxon description
Gatunek europejski rozsiedlony w Europie od górzystych terenów Francji, Szwajcarii, północnych Włoch, Banatu i Siedmiogrodu w Rumunii aż do północnych krańców kontynentu (nie znany z Wysp Brytyjskich). Najdalej na wschód wysuniętym, znanym stanowiskiem jest Perm nad Kamą. W Polsce jest znany z nielicznych rozproszonych stanowisk w różnych częściach kraju, przy czym wicie danych opiera się na znaleziskach sprzed stu lat, toteż wymagają one potwierdzenia nowymi materiałami. Występuje głównie na obszarach górzystych, gdzie dociera do wysokości około 2500 m n.p.m., natomiast z terenów nizinnych jest znany z nielicznych stanowisk. Przeważnie jest poławiany na terenach lesistych od maja do sierpnia — optimum pojawu ma miejsce w czerwcu i lipcu.
Gatunek górski mający rozproszone, nielicznymi stanowiska na niżu. W Puszczy Białowieskiej stwierdzono jego występowanie w zespole boru mieszanego świeżego i lasu mieszanego świeżego. W górach nie przekracza górnej granicy lasów. Larwę opisał Verhoeff (1923); rozwój nie znany.
Gatunek ten występuje w środkowej i północnej Europie; na wschód od Polski znany z Karpat Ukraińskich i dalej na wschód z okolic Permu nad Kamą. Wykazany z Niemiec, Szwajcarii, Austrii, Rumunii i Włoch, gdzie występuje głównie w górach (Horion 1953).
