Taxon description
Bardzo rozległy obszar rozsiedlenia tego gatunku w Europie rozciąga się od Wysp Brytyjskich i środkowych obszarów Fennoskandii po kraje śródziemnomorskie. W Polsce jest najpospolitszym gatunkiem omawianego rodzaju; nie jest jeszcze znany tylko z Kotliny Nowotarskiej i Tatr. Zamieszkuje suche i ciepłe miejsca na polach, ugorach, przydrożach, żwirowiskach, skalistych ściankach, nasłonecznionych brzegach lasu i w zaroślach. Żyje na różnych gatunkach lnic, jak lnica pospolita — Linaria vulgaris (L.) Mill., lnica mała — L. minor (L.) Desf., lnica janowcowata — L. genistifolia (L.) Mill. i lnica kreskowana — L. repens (L.) Mill. oraz na wyżlinie polnym — Antirrhinum orontium L. Postacie dojrzałe spotykano na roślinach od czerwca do października. Larwy w lipcu-wrześniu żerują w torebkach nasiennych nie powodując powstawania wyrośli; żywią się niedojrzałymi nasionami. W sierpniu-wrześniu odbywa się przepoczwarczenie w torebkach.
