Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący Europę i Afrykę Północną, wykazywany też z Kaukazu i Iranu. W Europie środkowej najczęściej spotykany chrząszcz omawianej rodziny. W Polsce występuje od Bałtyku aż po Tatry, nie notowany jednak jeszcze z wielu krain. Znajdowany pod korą drzew iglastych i liściastych, w zmurszałych i przegrzybialych pniach i pieńkach, przy wypływającym soku z drzew i w gnijących grzybach.
