Taxon description
Gatunek palearktyczny, szeroko rozprzestrzeniony; w Fennoskandii sięgający do koła podbiegunowego. Według dawnych danych notowany z Indii i Tajwanu, co wymaga potwierdzenia nowym materiałem dowodowym. W Polsce z wyjątkiem wysokich gór prawdopodobnie występuje wszędzie, ale brak jeszcze danych z kilku krain. Spotykany głównie pod padliną różnych zwierząt, pod gnijącymi resztkami roślinnymi oraz ekskrementami.
