Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony głównie w środkowej części Europy, na północ docierający do Danii i południowych prowincji Fennoskandii, a na wschód po linię Smoleńsk — Moskwa, Kaukaz, Zakaukazie. Ogłodek czarny jest w Polsce rzadko znajdowany, notowany dotychczas tylko z Pienin i nielicznych stanowisk nizinnych w czterech krainach. Głównym żywicielem tego kornika jest wiąz, sporadycznie spotykano go na buku, dębie, lipie, olszy, klonie, jaworze, jabłoni, śliwie i czereśni. Opada zarówno pnie, jak i gałęzie. Chodniki macierzyste, jednoramienne, podłużne, niekiedy na początku zakrzywione, długości 4-10 cm, szerokości do 2,5 mm. Chodniki larwalne, ściśle ułożone, na początku prostopadłe i rozchodzące się na boki, końce ich są równoległe do chodnika macierzystego. Żerowiska wyraźnie w bielu, gdzie również zakładane są komory poczwarkowe.
