Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Pojedynczo pojawiający się w lasach, zaroślach, parkach i na brzegach rzek i jezior motyl, lata w dwu pokoleniach w IV i V oraz w VII i VIII. Gąsienice, zmienne w ubarwieniu — od szaropopielatych do uplamionych brązowo żywią się liśćmi olchy, dębu, brzozy, głogu, malin, jeżyn i in. Spotkać je można od VI do IX; drugie pokolenie w VIII do X jest liczniejsze. Poczwarki przebywają w oprzędach między liśćmi. Gatunek zimuje w stadium poczwarki. Motyle tego gatunku w czasie spoczynku mają skrzydła złożone.
