Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w południowej, środkowej i wschodniej części Europy, wykazywany też z Bliskiego Wschodu i Mongolii. W Polsce znany dotychczas z nielicznych stanowisk na niżu i wyżynach; wydaje się, że w górach nie występuje. Spotyka się go najczęściej w środowiskach o charakterze kserotermicznym. Jest monofagiem, związanym z goździkiem kartuzkiem — Dianthus carthusianorum L. Larwy żerują na nasionach w torebkach owocowych, a dojrzałe wygryzają otwór w torebce i przedostają się do gleby, gdzie odbywają przepoczwarczenie. Postacie dojrzałe po przepoczwarczeniu ukazują się na roślinach w maju i przeżywają do połowy sierpnia.
