Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący południową i środkową część Europy, wykazywany ponadto z Finlandii, Szwecji i Azji Mniejszej. Wszędzie, również w Polsce, rzadko i sporadycznie spotykany, znany u nas tylko z dwu krain. Wiadomości odnoszące się do bionomii są bardzo skąpe. Według danych z piśmiennictwa, na wyspie Rodos chrząszcz rozwija się w brunatnych owocnikach grzyba z rodzaju żagiew — Polyporus (Mich.) Fr., pasożytującego na cedrach i platanach. Przepoczwarczenie następuje w końcu lipca w zewnętrznej warstwie grzyba albo w ekskrementach larwy i trocinkach, w tym ostatnim przypadku w kokonie sporządzonym przez larwę. Postać dojrzała ukazuje się w połowie sierpnia.
