Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w Europie środkowej oraz w sąsiadujących z nią obszarach, notowany także z Kaukazu. W Polsce znany z nielicznych miejscowości w trzech tylko krainach. Zamieszkuje lasy o charakterze pierwotnym, stare parki, ogrody i osobno stojące stare drzewa liściaste, zwłaszcza dęby, buki i kasztanowce. Występuje pod zmurszałą korą, w dziuplach z przegrzybiałym próchnem oraz w chodnikach larw chrząszczy drewno- i próchnożernych, gdzie żeruje na ekskrementach, mączce drzewnej i martwych owadach.
