Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1983:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w środkowej, wschodniej i południowo-wschodniej części Europy, Azji Mniejszej, Syrii, na Kaukazie i w Syberii Zachodniej. Chrząszcz ciepłolubny, zamieszkujący głównie tereny nizinne w Europie Środkowej, na zachód docierający do Renu. W Polsce na ogół rzadko i sporadycznie spotykany. Cykl rozwojowy dwuletni. Larwy żyją w glebie i żerują na korzeniach roślin, między innymi także zbóż. Postacie dorosłe ukazują się w końcu kwietnia i żyją do czerwca. Wyjadają niedojrzałe nasiona zbóż i pręciki kwiatów drzew liściastych.
