Taxon description

Heintze 1990:

Motyl bardzo rzadki, pojawia się od poł. V do końca VI. Gąsienice żerują od VI do IX na brzozach, olchach, lipach, leszczynie, dębie, osice i in. Budując oprzędy z próchna kory drzewa, jednocześnie wgryzają się w głąb i oprzędy stają się w ten sposób niewidoczne z zewnątrz. Zimują poczwarki. Charakterystyczne granatowo-żółte ubarwienie gąsienic zjawia się po ostatnim linieniu.
