Gatunek borealno-górski, znany z Wielkiej Brytanii i Szwecji oraz Francji, Szwajcarii, Austrii, Niemiec, Czechosłowacji i Węgier. W górach żyje pod kamieniami i wśród trawy, w krajach północnych (w tym i w Polsce) – w ściółce leśnej.
