Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony niemal w całej Europie (prócz skrajnych obszarów północnych), wykazywany ponadto z Afryki Północnej, Azji Mniejszej i Azji Środkowej. W Polsce, aczkolwiek nie jest znany z niektórych krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, prócz wyższych partii górskich. Żyje na szczawiu polnym — Rumex acetosella L. Samice składają jaja około połowy maja. Larwa odbywa rozwój w nieregularnych okrągławych, średnicy około 5-10 mm, wyroślach korzeniowych. Niektóre wyrosła są tylko po jednej stronie korzenia i przybierają wtedy półkolisty kształt. Przepoczwarczenie odbywa się w galasie.
