Taxon description
Gatunek szeroko rozsiedlony w Europie (prócz północnych obszarów Fennoskandii), na wschód sięgający przez Syberię do północnych Chin, notowany ponadto z Kaukazu i Azji Mniejszej. W Polsce rozmieszczony na całym obszarze, ale nie jest jeszcze notowany z niektórych krain. Spotykany głównie na leszczynie — Corylus avellana L., rzadziej na olszy czarnej — Alnus glutinosa (L.) Gaertn., olszy szarej — Alnus incana (L.) Mnch. oraz na różnych gatunkach z rodzaju dąb — Quercus L. i wierzba — Salix L. Postacie dojrzałe pojawiają się w maju i występują do września. Larwy odbywają rozwój w tutce liściowej uformowanej przez samicę. Przepoczwarczenie odbywa się przeważnie w opadniętej na ziemię tutce, rzadziej w glebie.
