Taxon description
Gatunek holarktyczny. Żyje na nizinach i w niższych partiach gór na skrajach lasów iglastych i mieszanych, rozpinając sieci wśród gałęzi drzew wysoko nad ziemią.
Dane Seidela (1849) odnoszą się raczej do omawianego gatunku, a nie, wbrew użytej przez niego nazwie, do sródziemnomorskiego Araneus circe (Savigny et Audouin, 1825) (synonim Epeira Schreibersii Hahn, 1834).
