Gatunek o zasięgu ograniczonym do obszarów górskich w środkowej części Europy. W Polsce chrząszcz notowany głównie z Beskidu Zachodniego — występowanie w naszej części Tatr winno być potwierdzone udokumentowanymi danymi, gdyż dotychczas jest tylko ogólnikowo wykazany z tego obszaru. Znajdowany w detrytusie i pod rozkładającymi się szczątkami roślinnymi.
